Sunset last night

The sunset last night was amazing. My sister was leaving my house and had my nephew run back to tell me 'Get your camera!' Wish I had time to get down the road for a really open view of the mountains, but the view from my front yard will have to do.

A local blog to check out!

A lady that blogs in Westwood sent me an email yesterday. She has a great photo blog and we exchanged links. She also joined the City Daily Photo site http://www.citydailyphoto.com/ that I belong to. It is a collection of photo blogs from around the globe. It is fun that Susanville and Westwood are now on that list!!!!

I really like seeing photos of Lassen County, so check it here:

Smoke everywhere!

I am guessing the fire covering Susanville is from the forest fire outside of Quincy, or maybe the fires in Tehama County. Where ever it's coming from, I hate having it hang around!
For an incident map of the fires, check here:

Scenes around Susanville

We had a thunderstorm over the weekend. It didn't leave much rain and we didn't see any lightening. But the folks on the other side of Diamond Mountain saw a little.

Springtime in Susanville

In late May the wildflowers at Inspiration Point were in full bloom.

Mt. Lassen

In late May, my mom, the kids, and I went walking on the paved bike trail at Lake Almanor near Prattville. It was a beautiful day and we had a nice view of Mt. Lassen as we were leaving on Highway 89.

These photos were taken from Highway 36. I believe this is Walker Lake just outside of Westwood.

Sacramento River Headwaters

This weekend we visited the city park in Mt. Shasta. The Sacramento River Headwaters are located in the park. Some state and city officials disagree whether the headwaters is the official start of the Sacramento River. Either way, its a great park to visit. The water is FULL of leeches. They were everywhere on the rocks. Yuck.
